Our Strategy

Epic Hope embraces a comprehensive approach to alleviating poverty, acknowledging its complex nature and the necessity for a holistic strategy. By tackling root causes like fractured families, educational deficiencies, restricted career pathways, community development needs, and healthcare accessibility, Epic Hope strives to elevate the entirety of the community. Through targeted, community-led efforts, we seek to create sustainable change, ensuring no family is left behind, and the entire community experiences positive transformation.

Family Support Services

  • We firmly believe that a potent strategy for breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty is to direct our attention and resources toward fortifying and restoring family bonds. Through purposeful initiatives, we provide tools and resources to empower men to become committed and intentional husbands and fathers. Our approach aims to mitigate the prevalence of absent fatherhood by strengthening paternal roles, ultimately reducing financial and social stress on families.

    We partner with multiple organizations to give fathers the tools needed to become more intentional in the lives of their families.

  • Offering personalized guidance and support to parents, equipping them with essential skills and tools to foster a nurturing and thriving family environment.

  • Providing professional, trauma-informed counseling services tailored to the unique needs of individuals and families, promoting emotional well-being, healing, and strengthening of relationships.

  • We understand the financial strain that court-ordered supervised visits can place on families. We believe every child deserves a safe and loving environment to spend time with their parents, even in the most challenging circumstances. That's why we're thrilled to offer our beautiful property for rent at an affordable rate of just $20 an hour for supervised visits.

Community Development

  • We work to foster a sense of community and connection through neighborly initiatives, including community gardens, makers' markets, block parties, movie nights, etc. These spaces serve as gathering places where residents can come together and cultivate relationships.

  • Community gardens promote shared responsibility, cooperation, and a sense of ownership, enhancing the overall quality of life within the community.

  • We actively collaborate with community leaders, local organizations, and law enforcement agencies to address critical issues such as crime, drug use, and other social challenges. Through advocacy efforts, we strive to create a safer and more secure environment for families, promoting a sense of belonging, pride, and empowerment within the community.

  • We support aspiring entrepreneurs within the community by providing resources, mentorship, and guidance for business startups. By fostering economic growth and local businesses, we aim to create sustainable job opportunities and financial stability for individuals and families in Tulsa's Hope Valley.

Education

  • Equipping individuals with fundamental life skills, such as financial literacy, cooking, communication/self-advocacy, time management, and problem-solving, to enhance their self-sufficiency and overall well-being.

  • Offering tutoring and academic support to children and youth, helping them excel in their studies and realize their full potential.

  • Assisting adults who have not completed their high school education by providing GED preparation classes and resources, opening doors to higher education and better employment opportunities.

Healthcare

  • At our core, we believe in the fundamental right to access quality healthcare regardless of socioeconomic status. By providing free medical health services like those offered by Good Samaritan Health Services, we ensure that patients can receive regular doctor visits, access needed medicines, receive important follow-up care, obtain specialty referrals when necessary, and benefit from general preventative health education. This commitment to accessible healthcare not only improves individual well-being but also fosters healthier communities and a more equitable society. Everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy life, and by extending these services, we strive to make that a reality for all.

  • We strongly believe that ensuring access to mental health services is crucial for the vitality of any community. To champion this cause, we've partnered with Skillz on Wheels, a local nonprofit mental health clinic.

    We are proud to offer an initial set of six complimentary counseling sessions to individuals and families confronting financial challenges in Tulsa's Hope Valley. These free services encompass individual, family, and group counseling sessions, aiming to make emotional well-being accessible to all.

  • By partnering with Tulsa Responds we assist individuals and families in enrolling in various benefit programs, such as Medicaid, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Internet Connectivity (ACP), and other social services.

    By navigating the enrollment process and providing guidance, we help individuals access the support needed during transitional times of their life.

Career Development

  • Our organization collaborates with various partners to provide specialized training programs that prioritize the development of essential soft skills. These include communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, resume building, and leadership. These training programs empower individuals to excel in diverse professional environments, bolstering their employability and career prospects.

  • Through our partnership with Wayfindr, we emphasize the significance of technical expertise and offer targeted training in specific hard skills that are in high demand within the local job market. By equipping individuals with valuable, industry-specific skills, we enhance their potential for sustainable employment and upward mobility.

  • We understand that sustainable change begins with empowering individuals within poverty-stricken communities. That's why we're committed to investing time and resources in raising up local entrepreneurs.

    By fostering entrepreneurship, we not only create economic opportunities but also cultivate a sense of ownership and pride within the community. Local entrepreneurs bring innovative solutions to local challenges, stimulate economic growth, and serve as role models for future generations.

Youth Programming

  • We offer engaging sports programs (basketball, soccer, football) that provide children and youth with opportunities to develop physical fitness, teamwork, leadership skills, and sportsmanship. Through sports, we promote healthy lifestyles, personal growth, and positive social interactions among young individuals within the community.
